THINK-TANK + INNOVATION LAB
COMPLEXITY OF IMPACT MEETS SIMPLICITY OF INVOLVEMENT
ROOTS 2 CHANGE [501c3] Through our innovative Roots approach, we help people and their communities tap into the unique intelligence of place to inspire powerful regenerative solutions to the pressing social, educational, environmental, and economic issues facing our local and global world today.

OUR ROOTS APPROACH is holistic, place-sourced, systemic, developmental, and regenerative. Our skills include analyzing the local landscape, listening to the wisdom, wants, needs, and dreams of the community, mapping local ecosystems, engaging intersectional communities, connecting through collaborative partnerships, developing capacity and skills through innovative programs, and building healthy regenerative local economies.

[RE]GENERATION = revival OR restoration of a living system as a natural process
URBAN [Re]GENERATION LAB™ [URL] is part think-tank, and part innovation lab. It is a platform grounded in our living systems “Roots” approach that is based on the people, memories, stories, and data found within place. We are partnering with communities to develop place-based civic/social tools, leading edge research, programs, and exhibitions focused in civics, communications, & design that aim to influence planning, policy, urban design, and effect regenerative change from the roots up.
WHAT WE DO
FOCUSED IN
CIVICS
INFORMED + ENGAGED
CIVICS
Understanding local civics, how place works, to move the needle from the roots up!
COMMUNICATION
CONNECT + COLLABORATE
COMMUNICATION
Communicating complex data, ideas, and stories about the city. Changing the narrative!
DESIGN
DESIGN
EQUITABLE + INCLUSIVE
Co-Creating civic/social tools, exhibitions, and events to make our city more just and equitable!
Creating lasting equitable change within our diverse communities means citizens must have the capacity, agency, and tools necessary for contextualizing and communicating their ideas, needs, wants and feelings about the complexities of place. Our programs provide participants the know-how to identify, analyze, and deconstruct the systems of place; synthesize their findings to pinpoint the areas that need attention; visualize and communicate their ideas, stories, and data; and design tools for regenerative change.
R2C approach provide us with snapshots from the Roots of place!
Utilizing emergent technologies and weaving methods from multiple disciplines including urban planning, architecture, social sciences, technology, engineering, and design. Participants are challenged to stretch their critical thinking, creative problem solving, leadership, and social emotional intelligence skills. Our programs help participants to empathize, collaborate, and engage with peers in their communities to tackle tough local issues.
